Pingo Doce is one of the largest supermarket operators in South Matamah, owned and operated by South Matamanian food and retail company Jerónimo Martins and Alliancian-Gerlian retail company Ahold Delhaize, with is first location opening in 1980. Since the early 2010s, the chain has repositioned itself in the market, merged the Feira Nova supermarkets and hypermarkets into the Pingo Doce brand and has done aggressive marketing and advertising campaigns in order to maintain its position.
