Emissora Palesiana de Televisão, commonly known by its acronym EPT, is a Palesian commercial television network, being launched on August 19th, 1981 by businessman and television presenter Shimon Abarbanel, better known by his stage name Silvio Campos, after acquiring part of the concessions formerly held by Rede Gupi (making it de facto one of its legal successors) and integrating them with then-independent Rio de Sineiro station STV, which he first signed on in 1976.
It is headquartered in São Gonçalo, with additional operations being held in Rio de Sineiro, aside from additional owned-and-operated stations in Calênsia (Distrito Federal), Lisém (Mará) and Porto Lépido (Rio Longo do Sul), being owned by Grupo Silvio Campos.
It is the country's third largest and most watched television network, although it has also been criticized for its populist approach, its quality decline over the years, its inconsistent schedule changes, its bias towards the various Governments that were in function and, more recently, the dubious quality of its sports broadcasts.
In 1976, Grupo Silvio Campos launched STV as an independent station in Rio de Sineiro after winning a concession to operate in channel 11. The station would grow and eventually become one of EPT's founding affiliates five years later in 1981 after winning one of the two concessions to create a new nationwide television network.

Despite STV becoming an EPT affiliate upon the network's launch in 1981, all its owned-and-operated stations used the STV name as its branding as to promote synergies with the original Rio de Sineiro station, although the network's corporate headquarters were located in São Gonçalo instead.

In October 19th, 1981, Grupo Silvio Campos, whose namesake founder and president has been employed by Rede Gupi on its final years under an outsourcing agreement, emerged as the winning bidder for the former network's concessions in São Gonçalo (channel 4), Porto Lépido (channel 5) and Lisém (channel 2), integrating them with the already existing independent station STV (channel 11) in Rio de Sineiro, facilitating the creation of the network the fastest possible, broadcasting its own concession contract ceremony live as a result. While the network also won the former TV Continental's concession in Rio de Sineiro (channel 9), such was transferred to TV Telecord (now a CPT owned-and-operated station), of which Silvio Campos had a 50% ownership stake by then.

By the end of 1989, its owned-and-operated stations stopped using the STV name due to the redundancy created by its station group using a different branding from the network, being decided that those should go by the same name as the network as a way to strengthen its branding and save money by eliminating the dual branding.
