CRT was a Talcian commercial television channel. Operating with a 10-year license, with the objective of observing the operation of commercial television, CRT was participated by a set of radio stations among which is Cooperativa Vitalicia, Portal, Corporación y Minería.

After administrative problems and disputes between shareholders, the CRT went off the air on January 15, 1962. The government allowed commercial broadcasting in the university networks and the frequencies assigned to the CRT would be used for the launch of the state television station.
